ALERT - CRITICAL DROUGHT DECLARATION
On September 8, 2022, Cape Cod was declared to be at drought level 3 Critical Drought and as a result, the Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 21, 2022 voted unanimously to limit all outdoor watering to hand-held only or drip irrigation. Water after 5 p.m. or before 9 a.m. to avoid evaporative losses. These mandatory restrictions will continue through September 30, 2022 and voluntarily beyond that because conditions causing the drought declaration have not changed.
The Water Department maintains the municipal water supply so that there is a sufficient quantity of water to meet the needs of all of its customers, including the Fire Department, even on the most demanding day in the middle of summer.
